Methods:
In this double-blind randomized clinical trial study, 58 young patients (27 patients in the first group and 31 patients in the second group) were examined. The primary and secondary recorded results in each group were compared using paired t test. The results of the two groups were compared using repeated measured ANOVA. (α = 0.05)
Results:
TBUT mean showed significantly difference before and after intervention (P=0.041), OSDI mean score differed significantly before and after intervention (P<0.001), mean corneal & conjunctival staining score after the intervention showed significantly difference from those obtained before the intervention (P<0.001), Schirmer test mean score did not show significantly difference before and after intervention. The two drugs did not show significantly different effects.
Conclusion:
The two artificial tears, Artelac and Tearlose showed equal effectiveness in the reduction of dry eye symptoms and signs in two weeks.
