Purpose:
|
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of visual loss among people aged 65 yr and older. The pathophysiology of AMD is poorly understood and may be related to other age-related phenomena such as changes in hearing. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of hearing loss in patients with AMD, to diagnose early stage of AMD.

Methods:

In this case-control study, Hearing Condition of 75 patients with AMD was compared with 75 subjects without AMD that were matched for age. Data were analyzed using Independent t and Chi-Square Tests
|

Results:

: the frequency of hearing loss in patients with AMD and control groups were significant differences, (p (05/0 > .There was no difference in the frequency of hearing loss in patients with AMD of Varying ages.

Conclusion:
|
High associated of AMD and age- related hearing loss, Results of this study suggest further research to better understand the underlying biological mechanisms of AMD related to age- related hearing loss.
