Purpose:
|
Our aim is to evaluate the results of treatment of different types of amblyopia in patients over 10 years during 5years
|

Methods:
|
This retrospective study was done in 150 patients with aged 10-20year with refractive, strabismic and deprivation amblyopia under combined treatment of atropine penalization and patch theraphy.Patients data such as initial & final visual acuities ,type of amblyopia and strabismus, cyclopleghic refraction and duration of follow-up(at least 6months).success rate was defined as at least 2 line improvement in visual acuity during 3months of treatment. The results compared with spss 18

Results:
|
Total subjects were 150 cases with mean aged 13±2 year (10-19).About 60% of cases belong to refractive, 30% to strabismic amblyopia and remainder was deprivation amblyopia. Success rates were 55% in refractive amblyopia and 4 line improvement in visual acuity in 30%.The success rate was 10% in strabismic amblyopia. There is no any improvement of visual acuity in deprivation amblyopia

Conclusion:

This study showed that treatment of amblyopia in patient over 10 years was successful in refractive amblyopia and small effect in strabismic ambyopia and no effect in deprivation amblyopia
