Purpose:
To evaluate the effect of implanted Myoring depth on postoperative outcomes in keratoconus patients
Methods:
The MyoRing (Dioptex GmbH) was implanted after creation of an intrastromal pocket using pocket maker microkeratom for 26 eyes of 26 patients with moderate and advanced keratoconus. All patients had at least 3 months of follow-up. Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, keratometry and refraction were the main outcome measures of the study. Moreover, the depth of implanted myoring was measured using visante oct postoperatively.
Results:
At the 3-month follow-up visit, there was a statistically significant reduction in the mean spherical equivalent refractive error , the mean sphere and cylinder ( p<0.001). The mean UCVA (logMAR) improved from 0.96±0.29 preoperatively to 0.39±0.29 postoperatively (p=0.001), while mean BSCVA (logMAR) improved from 0.53±0.27 to 0.25±0.16, p=0.001).Additionally, the mean K reading decreased by 3.45 D and the mean UDVA and CDVA improved 6 lines and 3 lines respectively
Conclusion:
No significant correlation was found between the depth of implanted myoring with visual acuity, keratometry and refraction in keratoconus patients postoperatively except in sphere and spherical equivalent.More flatter myoring depth induced more decrease in myopia and spherical equivalent
