Purpose:
To compare intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements
using the goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), air-puff tonometer , Diaton, Corvis, and ocular response analyzer (ORA) and assess the agreement among the devices.
Methods:
IOP measurements and Central corneal thickness with 5 different devices were recorded from right eye of 162 healthy refractive surgery candidates. In all cases, two experienced examiners (A and B) measured the IOP of each eye for three times.
Results:
The mean (±SD) of IOP readings with each device were 16.3 ± 2.7 mmHg for GAT, 16.2 ± 2.7 mmHg for Air-puff, 14.9 ± 2.7 mmHg for Diaton, 17.7 ± 2.7 mmHg for Corvis, 16.5 ± 3.2 for IOPg, and 17.0 ± 3.4 for IOPcc (P < 0.001). Mean GAT measurements were not statistically different from Air-puff or IOPg readings (P = 1 for both), but it was statistically different from readings by other methods (P < 0.05). Mean Diaton measurements were significantly lower than measurements with all other devices (P < 0.001).
while mean Corvis readings were significantly higher than readings from other methods (P < 0.05).
Conclusion:
The IOP were different in corvis and diatone in comparison with other technique and need corneal thickness correction.
