Purpose:
|
Past studies have shown learning disabilities in children may be due to visual or hearing disorders , also psychological disorders are seen in individual with vision loss. we didn`t find any study about the incidence of behavioral disorders in primary school children with refractive errors. The Purpose of study was evaluation incidence behavioral disorders in children with refractive errors .

Methods:

Children (5-12 years old) who were reffered to two eye clinic in Tehran, underwent complete ocular exams. Parents completed Persian translation of Rutters` A questionair for evaluation behavioral disorders. The data were analysed by SPSS 21 software.

Results:
|
: In this study, 83 normal and 101 children with refractive errors were evaluated. Overall the rate of behavioral disorders was 23.9% which was higher in cases with refractive errors (29.7 %) in comparison to normal cases (16.9 %) (P=0.04).
In refractive errors group, female had(22.2%) behavioral disorders and male (35.7 %) with statistical significance of (P=0.14). These rates were (8.8%) for females and (22.4 %) for males in normal cases group (P=0.10).

Conclusion:

Incidence of behavioral disorders is higher in 5-12 years old children with refractive errors in comparison to normal cases.
