Purpose:
To evaluate the result of laser insitu keratomileusis(LASIK) and photorefractive keratotomy(PRK) in partly and fully accommodative esotropia in adolescence and adult patients.
Methods:
In this interventional case series study we performed LASIK in 44 eyes of 22 patients and PRK in 4 eyes of 2 patients.
Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, refractive spherical equivalent and ocular alignment were recorded.
Results:
Mean age of the patients was 23.4 years (range 11 to 43) and 17 patients were women.
The mean preoperative uncorrected and corrected angle of deviation was 32.3 and 12.37 prism diopter (PD) of esotropia respectively, which changed to 7.8 PD without correction post operatively. Minimum follow up was 6 months
Conclusion:
Excimer laser refractive surgery is a promising alternative treatment for patients with refractive accommodative esotropia.
