Purpose:
To describe our clinical experience utilizing a double-cut femtosecond laser incision for surgical management of anterior corneal disease in a patient undergoing FALK surgery.
Methods:
Our recipient cornea was prepared using a double pass technique in which a 200 micron head was used for the first cut and then a second 90 micron head was used for the second cut.
Results:
No intraoperative complications were noted.Visante OCT image show that the double pass technique could provide matching of donor and host tissue dimensions with precise tissue apposition. We continue to obtain 6 month data on cornea to present at the time of the conference
Conclusion:
Double-cut FALK appears to be a simple, effective and reliable procedure for treatment of anterior stromal pathologies requiring corneal transplantation.
