Purpose:
to compare the visual field test results in early POAG obtained via FDT and SAP.
Methods:
This cross-sectional study included 45 eyes from 45 POAG patients. Both SAP and FDT perimetry was done for the participants in random order. Reliability indices, test duration, global indices and sensitivity threshold in four quadrants were compared between the 2 tests.
Results:
The test duration was significantly shorter by FDT than SAP . Although MD and PSD values obtained by FDT and SAP were not significantly different, but evaluation the agreement of global indices of two technique showed poor correlation. MD (95% CI:-0.94 to 1.06, ICC:0.057) and PSD(95% CI:-1.24 to 0.22, ICC:0.24)Mean threshold in four quadrants showed weak correlation. GHT values was correlated only in 48.8% of cases. Fixation loss and false positive error didn't have statistically significant difference, but false negative error was significantly lower by FDT perimetry (p<0.001).
Conclusion:
FDT is faster and less conflicted by errors, but the FDT and SAP perimetry can not be used interchangeably in patients with early glaucoma.
