Purpose:
to compare the anterior segment parameters between AS-OCT and sheimpflug imaging in normal patients.
Methods:
44 eyes of 22 healthy volunteer (8 male, 14 female) were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 27.98± 9.62 (18-51 years). All measurements were done by the same operator, under mesopic light condition with two optical methods: AS-OCT (Cassia ss-1000) and sheimpflug imaging (Pentacam high resolution). The evaluated parameters were anterior chamber depth (ACD), pachymetry in apex, center and thinnest position, keratometry in the steep and flat meridians, corneal astigmatism, higher and lower anterior and posterior elevation.
Results:
Significant differences in keratometry and elevation values, pachymetry in apex and center and ACD results were found between AS-OCT and sheimpflug imaging (all p< 0.05). corneal cylinder and pachymetry in thinnest position were similar by two methods (p> 0.01).
Conclusion:
although significant difference were found in anterior segment parameters between two methods, however, Bland-Altman plots showed good agreement between the measurements of the two devices. Both instruments provided reliable anterior segment evaluations in normal eyes.
